Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said here that One Nation, One Election is the need of the hour and all political parties should leave behind prejudiced mindset on the issue and move forward towards this important electoral reform.
While talking to reporters in Rampur today, Shri Naqvi said that the country and political parties need to give priority to national interests over political interests so that this significant and path-breaking electoral reform takes place. All the political parties should move forward on this issue with a positive approach. Shri Naqvi said that one or other election is held in almost every six months in the country and all the political parties remain election machines all the time.
Shri Naqvi said that while on one hand, this leads to wastage of enormous public money, on the other hand, development works also get hampered. At the same time, the people become unenthusiastic towards this festival of democracy due to the frequent elections.
Shri Naqvi said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, on several occasions, has appealed for One Nation, One Election, but some political parties adopted an apathetic and negative approach on the issue. All the political parties should realise that the people want the country comes out of the web of frequent elections, they want One Nation, One Election gets implemented.
Shri Naqvi said that holding elections to the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies simultaneously will not only save crores of rupees of public money, it will also eliminate continuous election process and restrictions which obstruct developmental activities. Apart from the Lok Sabha and state Assemblies, elections to Panchayats, Local Bodies, Legislative Councils, Cooperatives etc are also held frequently in the country. But the country can move to a system where at least elections to the Lok Sabha and state Assemblies can be held simultaneously.
Shri Naqvi said that those who are in the habit of cursing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from morning to evening, are unable to digest his honesty, hard work and commitment to decisions with delivery.
Today, the country's politics has not been restricted to family cradle, but it has become a medium to make “the people a precious partner of progress and prosperity”. Shri Naqvi said that several socio-economic and educational reforms have taken place under the Modi Government and these reforms and constructive change will make India's coming generations and the country’s democratic system better and more credible.
